What is Probation?

Probation may constitute either part or the entirety of a sentence following a conviction for a criminal offence. The individual subject to probation, also known as a probation order, is obligated to comply with the conditions established by the presiding judge.

House Arrest: What is a Conditional Sentence Order?

Section 34 of the code states that an individual is not criminally responsible for an act committed in self-defence or defence of another person if the act was committed while the individual believed on reasonable grounds that it was necessary for the self-preservation of the individual or the other person.
